CAT Personnel

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

One of our important projects in our effort to expand this website is to compile a listing of all CAT Personnel and link each one to a page about them and their experience with CAT.  If you are a former CAT employee, or are the family member of one, we would love to include your story.  Please send text and any photographs you would like to include to catwebhelp@gmail.com.  Thank you!

Hi Carol, Sterling Bemis was my birth father. I was just introduced to my nephew who told me to read Felix Smith’s book, China Pilot. I can’t explain all in an email. Can you give me a phone number I can use to speak with you?

    Regards,

    Hi Carol,
When people submit stories, bios, etc. re: their parents, are they supposed to log in and then post the bios/stories here? Or, do you want them to email you directly at catwebhelp@gmail.com?
Also, re: photos, are the photos scanned and emailed to you, or is there a way for people to upload their family photos directly to the website themselves?
    Thanks,
    Jo

Those are great questions, Jo! Yes, there are three places where members can contribute their photos and stories to our website:
CAT BLOG – All logged-in members can post to our Blog. Posts will be visible to anyone visiting the site.
CAT GALLERIES in the MEMBERS SECTION – All logged-in members can upload photos to albums that are setup in categories. These Photo Albums are only visible to logged-in members. (Please use descriptive file names with names, places and dates.)
CAT PERSONNEL PAGES in the HISTORY SECTION – Former CAT employees and their families can contribute photos and stories a page dedicated to each former CAT employee by either e-mailing the material to catwebhelp@gmail.com or mailing them to you, Jo. If the items that have been mailed were donated to the Association, you will send them to me to process, scan and upload to the website. If the material is on loan, the items will then be returned to the owner along with a CD of the digital files. Finally, all items will be recorded in our new database by Tanya Caliguiri.
I hope that helps! If anyone needs any assistance with the website, please feel free to contact me at catwebhelp@gmail.com.

Civil Air Transport (CAT) was an airline founded by Lt. General Claire Lee Chennault, leader of the Flying Tigers, and Whiting Willauer of China Defense Supplies at the conclusion of World War II.  Most of the pilots were former Tigers or other combat pilots from the Asian Theatre.  For the next four decades, CAT, and then its successor, Air America, were primary instruments of American foreign policy in Asia.
